Sunday Jam Reminder & Bill West Workshop

Monterey Ukulele Club!

This Sunday, February 7, 2016 we have a
Bill West Pre-Jam Workshop at 2:30 PM,

Then Bill West and Gail de Piper Mesa
will be leading the 4:00 Jam

Bill West 2:30 Pre-Jam Workshop

I will do a workshop looking at the first of the 3 main “chord shapes” that is in use by Ukuleledom, the “D” shape using a new “giant” fretboard, we will explore the logical ways to derive the many different chord types that are derived from the “D” shape.

By the end of the workshop, you will have the ability to explore and experience the sounds of the various chords based on this one shape, and (maybe) be able to enhance your chord selection will playing your favorite songs.  Included will be : minors, Maj 7ths, Dominant 7ths, Augmented, Suspended, 6ths, 9ths, 11ths, 13ths, and minors of the above.  All using only 3 or 4 strings…and 4 or fewer fingers!

As a graduation exercise, we will play one of our most loved  / requested / overused  songs (Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue…..the III, VI, II, V, I progression) using only the “D” shape played at different places on the neck…… It’s nowhere near as hard as you may think!

4:00-6:00 Jam
