Jam Reminder for Sunday

Hi, Monterey Ukers….we have another

Workshop and Jam coming up this Sunday..

March 1, 2015

Workshop: 2:00 PM

led by our friend

Alan Souza

 “Playing Simple Music Without Music”

Music is organized sound. This is a definition that I often use.Listening is the key. Listening to the music and listening to yourself. This sounds simple, yet, many people don’t know what to listen for.

I’ve seen many people get lost in a song because they don’t: understand, listen for and hear the basic chords that songs are built on. This workshop will start with the idea of listening and trying to hear when and how chords change. We will cover the basic chords in several keys and hopefully everyone will learn to play simple songs without having to look at music. We will also cover the basic rhythms music is built on and lean how to strum in these styles. If there is time, I’ll cover basics of improvisation and the building blocks of “playing by ear” to play a solo.

Jam: 4:00 – 6:00 PM

Lead by Jan, Lynn, Joe, Patricia & Les
